And the most awaited comeback of the Scottish singer
Paolo Nutini is a Scottish music legend that somehow has enchanted not only UK fans, but music lovers worldwide. And now, after releasing his previous album in 2014, he’s finally back with a new launch, tour dates and a most awaited comeback to the Glasgewian stage of TRNSMT. Here’s why you need to start listening to Paolo Nutini if for some reason you haven’t yet or have been living in a cave.
Life Lovers Magazine
The singer from the town of Paisley in Scotland and with an Italian background has been entertaining fans since his first single “These streets” came out in 2006 as a part of the homonymous album –at only 16 years of age. Two very successful albums later and his soulful and raspy voice decided to take a break from launching new music, leaving his devoted fans eager for a comeback.
Even though the pandemic might have had something to do with it, it took his fans a long wait of 8 years to see another album come to light. Until this past July 1st, when fans finally got to rejoice with “Last Night In The Bittersweet”, making it jump straight to the top of the UK Charts, according to the BBC.
A set of four albums now complete his studio discography with each one of them debuting in the first tiers of the UK Charts. Plus, a fair few awards and unforgettable singles have made this young singer and songwriter a hard-to-forget music legend.
Recently, his loyal fans got to see a dream come true when last month Paolo Nutini headlined Scotland’s biggest festival, TRNSMT. An event that was followed by shows all over the UK, Italy and the US, as part of the Last Night In The Bittersweet Tour aiming to end back in Scotland in 2023.
One of the reasons that make the Scotsman such an easy listen is his personal lyrics that mix very well with his deep and unique voice –plus a very easy-on-the-eyes face.
But Nutini is not just another child star whose major accomplishment is having started young. He’s a songwriter with a soulful voice, who’s been sharing his own stories, whilst paying tribute to the film industry and gaining raving fans from all over this beautiful world. This last quality can be appreciated in songs like Iron Skye and Aftermath, which include speeches from The Great Dictator and Tarantino’s True Romance, respectively.
On top of that, he made his first three very successful albums pretty comfortable in the first places on the charts and played in gigs such as Glastonbury, Wireless, V Festival and T in the Park. Then, back in 2015, he got his first biography published by journalist Colin McFarlane, all while still being under 30.
According to Rolling Stones UK, Paolo Nutini has never stopped writing and, just like all of us Life Lovers, he’s passionate about traveling, too. “His travel adventures have shaped the sound of the record. Its title, he explains, reflects a period of personal turbulence he has been living through behind the scenes”.
“Sometimes you’d just get a couple of nights in these places and a small taste of what they’re about. I tried to go back and spend some time there,” he says of his globetrotting downtime in the same interview.
Fun fact: Twitter plays a scavenger hunt after Paolo Nutini
If you’re not familiar with another Scottish singer, Lewis Capaldi, you should know that he rose to fame thanks to his mesmerizing voice, but his joyful acts on social media did help a bit in making him a viral sensation.
Why do we bring this to the table? Because on Feb 25th 2020, he decided to make a very public shout-out to a “missing” Paolo Nutini. “right enough's enough - where the fuck is paolo nutini?” was the simple text in a tweet that reached 12 thousand retweets, alongside with reply videos and photos of fans that have spotted him in small karaoke bars and charity events along the years.
Even though Nutini himself didn’t play along, the post did wake up those sleeping fans, who started showing their love and pushing for new tour dates, and resettling his songs back into the charts.
